  God’s spirit gives positive assurance of adoption as spiritual sons to baptized Christians who have received the heavenly calling. The apostle Paul showed this when he wrote to the “holy ones” in Rome, describing what was at that time the situation of all true Christians. He said: “All who are led by God’s spirit, these are God’s sons. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery causing fear again, but you received a spirit of adoption as sons, by which spirit we cry out: ‘Abba, Father!’ The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are God’s children. If, then, we are children, we are also heirs: heirs indeed of God, but joint heirs with Christ, provided we suffer together that we may also be glorified together.”—Rom. 1:7; 8:14-17.

  Two uses of the word “spirit” are here brought to our attention: “the spirit itself” and “our spirit.” The first is God’s invisible active force. It inspires in his spiritual children a conviction of having been adopted as God’s free children. That spirit also bears witness through God’s inspired Word, the Bible, which is like a personal letter to his spiritual children. (1 Pet. 1:10-12) When those who have been begotten by holy spirit read what the Scriptures say to those who are spiritual sons of God, they properly respond: ‘That applies to me.’ Thus God’s own active force in various ways bears witness with their spirit, the motivating force of their own mind and heart, that they are God’s children. In accord with what God’s spirit thus indicates, their minds and hearts become set on the prospect of being joint heirs with Christ, and they accept the responsibilities of God’s spiritual children.—Phil. 3:13, 14.

  If 1914 is wrong then how is it that it was such a landmark year?

  this is the question that came up in my mind.

  now dont get me wrong i know the dates from 607 - 1914 are rubbish, but how would you explain to a witness when they will automatically say, look at the momentus year 1914 was.

  that is evidence enough that 607 is correct!.

  I would say.... 1945 when WWII was over was MORE momentous and the Jews were allowed to go home by proclaimation issued by the United Nations. JW's always say the WWI was the worse war up to that point, but it wasn't. The 100 year war between Britain & France was MORE devasting. Think about it, 100 YEARS of war? or a few years? The Jewish Halocaust, 6,000,000 men, women & children murdered. So I always ask them, "So you tell me, how can 1914 possibly be momentous in history?

  Plus, Russell, Rutherfraud and the IBSA were all looking to 1874, not 1914.

  Hi Everyone, yep, finally got Hubby to post.

  Thank you all for the warm welcome. It is truly wonderful that the 4 of us have come out together. Now if we can just get our SIL signed up. He did do a post on JWStruggle awhile back which was very brave of him to discuss his abusive past. If anyone is interested, this is his post:

  Hubby & I both have a little Native American blood. My Great Grandmother was allegedly full blood ???? the family doesn't remember from what tribe tho.

  Hubby started doing the Mountain man rendezvous re-enactments and goes to several a year. It's great now, because now he can go full force and go to as many as he wants to without criticism from the elders for missing meetings. We have a small Trading Post on our personal property here in the Southwest and our family makes about 99% of the items we sell. We have fun and enjoy what we're doing. Our family always has been a little 'different' and never really 'fit in' to the JW congregations we were in

  we've all heard these experiences.. in fact, jehovah's witnesses are obsessed with them.

  the pioneer who needed 80 to fix their car & somehow (without having told anyone .

  now, if you believe that these sort of experiences are true, you are basically saying that god is actively arranging help for someone who is in need.

  Yep. Why would 'Jehovah' bless one brother to become a millionaire so he can regular pioneer and then my husband has to come off the list to support his family better????

  BS! I don't buy into those experiences at all. They never let us give our experiences from the platform.

  Another one: hubby had been out of work for 9 months [only had $200 a week unemployment] and I had been fighting for my disabitlity and unable to work, but no check yet and the elders knew this, but like good little JW's we went and told the elders that we couldn't make it to the DC that summer because of financial problems. Yep, those loving brothers [heavy sarcasm] pulled hubby in the back room, read him the scriptures about a man that does not provide for his family is WORSE than a man without faith, told him that we had known since January that the DC was coming up and should have been saving up for it all along then handed him $300. We paid for our hotel, scraped by on little food & gas and then when we got back, hubby took the PO in the back room and basically threw the remaining $100 in his face. We vowed that we would NEVER ask any JW's for any more help!

  And we whole-heartedly agree witht he child abuse being ignored!!!

  [The big 'A' ]

  I remember the literature even saying prior to 1975 that since 1975 was the end of 6,000 yrs of man's existence then it would be a perfect time for the big 'A' so then the 1,000 yr reign could start.

  My Hubby is reading Raymond Franz's 2nd book [In Search of Christian Freedom' and it mentions that according to Luke chapter 12 only the EVIL Slave has a time frame in mind. Because the ES makes the comment 'My Master is delaying' putting a time frame on it in their own minds....just a thought also.

  I Didn't See That Coming

  i was raised on air force bases in the us and asia until i was 10 or 11. my mother divorced my father while he was on an unaccompanied tour in turkey and hooked up with my uncle.

  she married him and his children became our step-brothers and sisters.

  i saw my father once when he got back to the states and not again until almost 30 years later.. after two years, my uncle put his children in an orphanage and my mother dispersed her children to the four winds so she could be free to be with my uncle without all the problems eight children who hated each other brought.. my story begins in 1977 in an old farm house in corinth, kentucky, without running water or heat, just electricity for lights and cooking.

  Very sad and heart-wrenching story! We are so glad you are here with us. 49 yrs in that cult myself and so I understand how damaging and vindictive they can be.

  after today's watchtower study which was basically a mind controlling article about shunning your loved disfellowshipped ones, i've come to see just how sick, twisted, vile, rotten, repulsive, disgusting, and just plain evil you all are.

  so i stormed out.

  Urgent one day meeting in Britain ,do you know it was about ?

  yestarday all our elders were invited to a one day meeting urgently .i know they had their elders meeting few months ago .does anyone know what it was about .i heard from the grapevine that among other issues disgussed was a)how to deal with disfellowshipped ones and, b) how to offer councel to fellow elders .any elder attended this meeting in britain please feel free to share some info.

  I don't know anything about those meetings, but I do know that about a week ago there were some of those meetings in other countries. It sounded like they were about 9 hours long.

  these are emails from the 2 days worth of conversations, so it's going to be long.. this was a message i got from my cousins mom...this was the first email i got.. i was recently informed of your fathers recent visit to his mother and the volatile conversation he had with her and the apostate things he said about jehovah's organization.

  i did not talk to your grandmother and hear from her personally but through and reliable friend whom i trust explicitly that talked with her.

  Proud of you Sweetie. I just wish one of them would call or email me so that I could ask them what in particular was said to G'ma by Hubby that could even be considered 'apostate'????? Not one of them has contacted us and asked. But it does show how critical and judgemental they are.....and speaking with 49 years of this mind-control myself, I know how they think.
